Check your library or favorite
online or neighborhood bookstore for these
titles, all of which I have read and
recommend. Use
Amazon to read summaries and
reviews.
A Woman's Guide to Successful
Negotiating: How to Convince, Collaborate &
Create Your Way to Agreement, by Lee. E
Miller and Jessica Miller - If you get
only one book on negotiating, this is my recommendation for a
solid overview of technique and practical
applications. It also addresses gender differences
in negotiations.
Women Don't Ask: by Linda Babcock and Sara Laschever
- This book examines the social forces that foster an impaired
sense of entitlement
among women, causing them to be a lot less
likely to negotiate than men. Fascinating
insights into gender-based behavior may be
the springboard for making changes which
produce better negotiated outcomes. Highly
recommended. Available in hard cover or
paperback.
Everyday Negotiation: Navigating
the Hidden Agendas in Bargaining, by Deborah
M. Kolb, Ph.D. and Judith Williams, Ph.D. -
For those who want to dig deeper into the
nuances of negotiation, this book breaks
down negotiation into finer pieces of
interpersonal communications.
Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement
Without Giving In, by Roger Fisher, Bruce M.
Patton and William L. Ury - Considered
the seminal work in negotiating.
My Favorite Money Management
Web Sites
All this talk about higher salaries and
pay raises at Career Coach RD is not about
greed or wealth and riches. It's about being
paid fairly for a job well done, earning
enough to meet your needs (and some of your
wants), while having enough left over to
give generously.
Our society promotes overspending on stuff”
which is a financial trap for millions. If
you're looking to escape that trap or just
need some general everyday money management
guidance, these Web sites offer the
resources you need.
Debt-Proof Living - Mary Hunt
has several cool tools and practical advice
venues for getting to the liberated place of
debt-free living.
Crown Financial Ministries -
I've been a supporter of this ministry for
around 20 years. They offer free Money Map
coaching, small group studies, books,
audios, financial calculators and even a
career guidance section.
